Please join next year's yoga retreat in Japan, at a zen temple in Iiyama, Nagano. Sattva Fitness Yoga Center's master teacher, Rached Maalouf, and Mimi Wright, ERYT200, will be leading the yoga retreat.
Master Teacher Rached Maalouf
Rached Maalouf was born in Lebanon and moved to Boston, Massachussetts in 1976 at the age of 12. He moved to San Diego in 1990 and now lives in Escondido, with his wife and 2 children. He completed 3 yoga teacher trainings; Indra Devi Hatha yoga in March 1999, Synergy yoga in August 2000 and Ashtanga yoga in June 2003. His yoga teaching career began in 1999 and he has taught approximately 10,000 classes since then. Yoga is his passion and way of life.
He opened Sattva Fitness Yoga Center in January 2002, teaches full time and runs the business. While teaching and assisting in local ongoing teacher training programs, he has witnessed physical and mental transformations of many students. Reading or interpreting a student's body in a pose, making modifications and skillfully using hands on adjustments are his strengths. He lives a simple life, eats organic and vegetarian food, and lives to serve his family and yoga students.
He is grateful to his teacher Ranjani Cobo M. D. MPH. HHP. and all his teachers and students. He thanks God for letting him survive his heart attack and bypass surgery in July 2002 and allowing him to teach more yoga, from the heart, for many more years. Yoga Teacher Mimi Wright
Born and raised in Japan, Mimi discovered her path to yoga in 1998, when she moved to Chicago, IL with her husband. During pregnancy of her first child, she suffered from severe back pain and found the therapeutic healing power of yoga. Mimi and her husband with two children moved to Yokosuka Naval Base in Japan, and she worked at Morale, Welfare and Recreation office as a fitness programs coordinator. The job eventually led her to be a fitness instructor, and she became interested in teaching yoga. In 2006, Mimi completed 200 Hour Yoga Alliance teacher training at 7 Centers Yoga studio in Sedona, AZ. Since then she has been passionately teaching yoga, taking workshops and classes from different teachers.
Mimi came to Sattva Fitness in 2014, and she found a true love for practice. She apprenticed with two great master teachers, Rached Maalouf and Sylvi Harwin. In 2016, Mimi completed 50-hour Yin Yoga training by Sylvi. After the training, she experienced a big shift in her life, felt her mind and body had a incredible transformation. Yin yoga has been a wonderful addition to Mimi’s daily yoga practice.
Besides teaching Hatha 1 and Yin yoga class at Sattva Fitness, Mimi teaches mom & baby yoga class at Zoom Fitness in Kearny Mesa, office yoga class at Teradata, and healing restorative yoga at Alternative Physical Therapy in Rancho Bernardo. Mimi also teaches small group/private lessons at her clients' residence, and SUP yoga, beach yoga at San Diego beaches.
Mimi has an extensive knowledge of therapeutic grade essential oils and uses them as remedies and preventive care for her family’s illness, and practices Ayurveda in her daily life. She enjoys cooking meal for her family with organic whole foods and vegetables every day, everything from scratch. She hopes to guide her family and clients to enjoy holistic and healthy life style.
